Frequently Asked Questions
Learn how PAADA connects enterprises, approved contractors and field technicians through one service workflow.
General
What is PAADA?
PAADA is a technology marketplace connecting Enterprises with approved independent Contractors for service work. Assignment depends on the selection method chosen for the request. Technicians update assigned Service Calls from the field.
Does PAADA perform the service work?
No. Service work is performed by independent contractor businesses. PAADA provides the technology used to connect participants and coordinate job information.
What types of service requests can be submitted?
PAADA currently supports Electric, Fire Alarm, Fire Sprinkler and Fire Extinguisher services.
Is PAADA an emergency response service?
No. PAADA should not be used for life-safety emergencies. For an emergency, contact 911, the appropriate utility provider or the responsible emergency authority.
For Enterprises
How does an enterprise request service?
Create an enterprise account, confirm the email address and complete the required profile information. After the account is approved, service requests can be submitted through the enterprise dashboard.
What information is required for a service request?
A request includes the service category, service type, property address, city, state, ZIP code, contact information and a description of the requested work. Service Calls also include urgency and the applicable contractor-selection options. Fire Extinguisher inspection requests can include multiple locations with their own addresses, extinguisher counts and inspection due dates.
Can an enterprise follow job progress?
Yes. The enterprise dashboard displays active and completed jobs, assigned contractor information, technician information and the current job status.
Can an enterprise review a contractor?
Yes. After a job reaches Completed status, the enterprise can submit one rating and review for that job.
How is a Contractor selected?
Service Calls offer First Available, Compare Hourly Rates and Preferred Contractor when available for the request.
First Available: the first eligible Contractor to successfully accept receives the assignment. Compare Hourly Rates: Contractors submit availability and rates, and the Enterprise selects a Contractor. Preferred Contractor: the Enterprise privately invites one approved Contractor; acceptance is required before a Service Call is assigned.
Monitoring and Annual Testing or inspection requests are sent to the selected Preferred Contractor for agreement preparation and Enterprise approval. Submitting the request does not approve a price, activate monitoring or confirm an appointment.
Do I need a saved payment method?
A saved payment method is required before submitting a Service Call. PAADA uses Stripe to collect and securely store or tokenize payment details. PAADA does not store the full card number. The initial Monitoring or Annual Testing request can be submitted without a payment method; one is required when the applicable approval or payment step asks for it.
When is my Service Call payment charged?
The Contractor submits the final invoice after work is completed. The Enterprise then reviews the work and invoice and can confirm and pay or report a specific issue. The review period is 2 business days after final invoice submission, counted Monday–Friday in Central Time, excluding weekends. Public holidays are not excluded. It does not start when a Technician simply marks work completed.
If no issue is reported within that period, PAADA may automatically confirm completion and charge the saved payment method. The total payment includes the Contractor invoice and the displayed Enterprise PAADA fee. Payment may be paused when an issue is reported, as described in the Terms.
What fees does PAADA charge?
PAADA charges an Enterprise service fee and a Contractor platform fee. The applicable amounts appear in the pricing or invoice details. The Enterprise payment includes the displayed Enterprise fee; the Contractor platform fee is deducted from Contractor earnings. Stripe processes payments and connected-account payouts.
What do Service Call statuses mean?
New means the request has been submitted. Assigned means a Contractor has accepted or been assigned through the selected workflow. En Route means a Technician has started travel. On Site means on-site work has begun. Completed means the recorded work is finished; it does not by itself mean an invoice has been submitted or payment has been made.
Start Work, Pause and Complete Job are Technician actions for progress and timekeeping. Paused labor time is not billed. Agreement services have separate approval, scheduling and completion records.
What happens if an Enterprise payment becomes overdue?
PAADA notifies the Enterprise and provides the limited grace period described in the Terms. After the grace period, new service requests may be restricted until the overdue PAADA amount is resolved. Existing jobs and invoice records remain available. A timely good-faith dispute is reviewed separately.
Fire Protection Services
Which fire protection services can I request?
Fire Alarm offers Service Calls, Monitoring and Annual Testing. Fire Sprinkler offers Service Calls and Annual Testing. Fire Extinguisher offers Service Calls and inspections through the Annual Testing option. Monitoring is a Fire Alarm service.
How do Monitoring and Annual Testing requests work?
Select the service type and a Preferred Contractor. The Contractor prepares the proposed scope, price and service details for the Enterprise to review and approve. Submitting a request alone does not activate monitoring, confirm an appointment or charge a payment. Service Call hourly billing does not automatically apply to these agreement services.
Can one Fire Extinguisher inspection request include multiple locations?
Yes. Add each service location with its name, address, number of extinguishers when known, and current inspection due date. Each location keeps a separate next inspection due date after the Contractor completes the inspection.
Who enters the next testing or inspection date?
The Enterprise provides the initial due date when requesting service. After completing the agreed work, the Contractor verifies and records the next Fire Alarm or Fire Sprinkler testing due date, or the next inspection due date for each Fire Extinguisher location. PAADA does not automatically determine the required inspection interval.
Does PAADA send testing and inspection reminders?
PAADA sends due-date email reminders to the Enterprise and Contractor approximately 30, 15 and 3 days before the recorded next testing or inspection date. Fire Extinguisher reminders identify the individual location, its address and its next inspection due date. Keep both account email addresses current. Reminders do not book an appointment, and delivery is not guaranteed. Users must track their dates and arrange service even if an email is not received.
Does a completed inspection mean all equipment passed?
No. Review the Contractor's report for inspection or testing results, deficiencies, inaccessible equipment and recommended repairs. A completed status or paid invoice does not by itself confirm that every item passed or that deficiencies were corrected.
For Contractors
How does contractor approval work?
A contractor creates an account and submits company, license, insurance and service-area information. PAADA reviews the application before enabling access to available jobs.
How are available jobs matched?
Available jobs are matched using the contractor category, state, geographic coordinates and the service radius selected in the contractor profile.
Is a job reserved when a contractor sees it?
Seeing a request does not mean the Contractor has been assigned. For First Available requests, the first eligible Contractor to successfully accept receives the assignment. For Compare Hourly Rates, the Enterprise chooses among submitted offers. Preferred Contractor requests are private invitations to the selected Contractor; an invitation alone does not confirm acceptance.
How are technicians added?
A contractor manager adds technicians through the contractor dashboard. Each technician receives an email link to create a password and then uses a separate technician account.
How do technicians update a job?
For Service Calls, the usual job statuses are New, Assigned, En Route, On Site and Completed. En Route, Start Work, Pause and Complete Job are action buttons used to update progress and record time. Start Work begins active labor time; Pause stops it, and starting again resumes it under the same job. The buttons are actions, not a separate list of job statuses.
Monitoring agreements and Annual Testing or inspection requests use their own approval and appointment statuses. They do not automatically follow the hourly Service Call workflow.
Can a job continue across multiple days?
Yes. A technician can pause work and start again later, including overnight or on another day. The work remains under the same PAADA job number until it is completed.
Is paused time included in billable labor?
For hourly Service Calls, PAADA tracks active work time from Start Work until Pause or Complete Job. Time between Pause and the next Start Work is not included in billable labor time.
How is time calculated when multiple technicians work on the same job?
For hourly Service Calls, active work time is tracked separately for each assigned technician. Their active time is then added together as the total technician-hours for the job. Each technician's paused time is excluded.
Will contractors receive new-job notifications?
Eligible contractors may receive email notifications when matching work becomes available. Keep the account email current and check the dashboard regularly. Notification delivery is not guaranteed.
When must a contractor submit the final invoice?
For Service Calls, the Contractor must submit the final invoice within fifteen calendar days after all assigned technicians complete the job. An overdue invoice triggers the limited grace period described in the Terms: up to two additional jobs or seven additional calendar days, whichever occurs first. After the limit, new-job acceptance may be restricted until the invoice is resolved. Monitoring and Annual Testing invoices follow the applicable service-specific billing workflow and approved agreement.
Responsibility and support
Does PAADA guarantee contractor qualifications?
No. Approved means PAADA has reviewed the submitted application and documents. It does not guarantee that documents are authentic, that licenses or insurance remain active, or that a Contractor is suitable for a particular job. Enterprises remain responsible for checking current licensing, insurance and qualifications.
Who determines pricing and scheduling?
Contractors propose their rates, scope, materials and scheduling, and Enterprises select or approve the applicable terms through PAADA. For platform payments, Stripe processes the Enterprise payment and Contractor payout. PAADA fees are displayed with the applicable pricing or invoice; payment processing follows the Terms and the authorization provided in PAADA.
